Inner Batmen and other quandaries....

I have this problem....I really can't draw Batman.
It took me a long time to realize that it's not that I don't like the character, it might just be that I hold him in such high regard, that I don't have my own take on him.

Dean Trippe and I related this to our "inner batman" in the halls outside SPX....when Paul Pope draws Batman, it's "Paul Pope's Batman", same with Neil Adams, John Byrne, Matt Wagner...
Sara Rosenbaum also sat with me at SPX and chatted about our inner Batmen.
She drew hers in my sketchbook as well....I should have scanned it.

If you're gonna be in it, be in it to win it! You know? Make your mark!
I don't think the drawing above is necessarily "my" Batman, but it's a stab.
A start, I guess. I don't know what I'm doing, yet.

Speaking of people not knowing what they're doing...
You kids heard the rumor about DC killing off Batman, and having someone step up into the cowl?
WTF.
DC knows there's like another Batman movie coming out, right?
I guess there's no worry about confusion if the comics actually get some cross-over readers...

Is it just status quo with the bigger comic companies to ignore all other aspects of their brand?
Cause it happens a lot.

They've tried to replace batman at least twice in the last 15 years or so, once with the Azrael thing and once with Dick. Neither one really took.
